July 2009 Issue
Writer's Block Blueberry Streusel Pie and Coffee

This amazing pie is made with two types of blueberries, some amazing flavor notes, all nestled in a buttery, flaky crust, with just a touch of streusel on top. If you want to get a job done, bake up pie to keep you company. See Country Fresh Blueberry Pie with Butter Streusel. Read more in A Note from Marcy. I don't suffer from writer's block nor baker's block - I have the opposite problem - a surfeit of too many ideas for stories and recipes but that's a tale for another day. Meanwhile, there's also some free recipes such as The Splitter and Chewy Big Batch Chocolate Chip Cookies (in case you read about the Nestle's Tollhouse Cookie Dough recall) and a few Canada Day and July 4th treats like Miss Liberty Cheesecake or mouth-watering Maple Cream Muffins. Scent of a Baker
Wheat Siren is my first perfume launch! In collaboration with Love Potion Magichal Perfumerie.
To order, see link on right of this page. Wheat Siren is a vanilla, orange blossom, jasmin and honey scent. It starts warmly vanilla and then quickly segues to a gentle floral oriental, mildly jasmine and orange blossom with just a hint of vanilla and honey to keep it warm and romantic. Aromas from the kitchen, scent from the boudoir, flowers from the garden: fragrances everywhere! As a baker girl/chef, it is no surprise that I am seduced by scent. In addition to working with fragrance and flavors in the bakery and kitchen, I also dabble in candle making, personal and custom perfumes, bath salts, and hand milled soaps as well as home fashioned incense and potpourri, specialty tea and coffee blends. I have been a contributor on fragrance for newspapers as well as online, and am a scent consultant on occasion. It is an area of interest and expertise that keeps evolving. I am delighted to share my scent reviews and discoveries I find on my perfumed travels. It's just another way to nourish the senses. Visit Scent of a Baker.

BetterBaking.com Book Shelf
Got Books, (and Music and Movies) Bakers read and review and here's the place to find out my book reviews on cookbooks, mind, body, spirit books, fiction, non-fiction - you name it. Sometimes there are some music reviews that also sneak in, not to mention some film and DVD rental musts. Forget the hype; bakers do not live by bread alone.

A recipe for every occasion
Baking or Cooking - it's all in there. Or just ask the chef.
