Watching Baseball Smarter, Zack Hample, Vintage 2007
www.Zackhample.com
This is a great stocking stuffer for our baseball and baker sorts and we have many in our ranks. Repeatedly cited on baseball blogs as one of the 10 best baseball books, this winningest book is for a broad range of baseball fans, and even for baseball pros, this is a must for their library. Laced with a sense of humour, the author has crafted a readable, informative, well-organized, wholly entertaining book on our favorite sport (at least in this household). The book is well researched (from all bases!) but is written in a conversational style, as if you are hearing about the game from a good friend who happens to be well informed. Out only a year, it’s the baseball book everyone has or wants. It’s not lightweight in the least but it’s not so stats oriented or technical that you cannot sit down and just enjoy reading it…and waiting for spring training.
