Home Brewed Lemon Iced Tea

You can also add a touch of cinnamon, a tad of vanilla, or orange slices or toss in a cinnamon stick in a single serving. Choose a good strong tea, such as English Breakfast or hearty Assam to make this. Tea leave brewed tea would be would be best but tea bags are convenient. Don't forget to use filtered or pure spring water for the best taste in this country-time exlixir.

About 12 cups boiled water

8 tea bags (2-cup variety)

Sugar to taste (about 3/4 cup)

Juice of half a lemon

1 additional small lemon, washed and thinly sliced

Boil water and brew tea bags (we used to big tea pots). Let stand about 3-5 minutes.

Remove tea bags and stir in sugar and juice of half a lemon.

Taste and adjust sugar.

Pour cooled tea into a 2 quart container (we use empty juice containers from store bought ice tea). Add in sliced lemon and stir into container.

Chill well. Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses.
