I call these pretty little cakes petits fours or fairy cakes. They are tiny gems of golden cake, dipped in a finishing, pastel colored fondant. Make them any color to match the spring flowers in your garden. You can also bake this batter in a square pan, split horizontally, and sandwich with butter icing and then smear the top with fondant for a more elaborate iced cake. Ice in white and top with a tiny bit of lavender or a candied violet leaf.
