Welcome to the sunny month of July and a summery issue of Betterbaking.com!
I’ve been doing a lot of cake baking lately since I recently did a whole feature on them, specifically one on Southern Layer Cakes for the Huffington Post. It reminded me how festive cakes are and what perfect summer food they make. Have an occasion? Make a cake. There’s no occasion? Then baking a cake can make a simple gathering into an occasion. The French Strawberry Shortcake is one way to start. But before dessert, perhaps you need something salty and for that, I’m pleased to share my favorite Garlic Twisty Bread with you as the Free Recipe of the Month.
