A Note from Marcy March 2019

Dear Bakers and Friends,

Welcome to the March issue of Betterbaking.com!

I’m delighted to announce the launch of my newest cookbook, officially my 10th cookbook, called The Newish Jewish Cookbook.   It’s available on Amazon and soon on other sites such as Indigo, Itunes and Barnes and Noble.

I wrote this book because much like my first cookbook, A Treasury of Jewish Holiday Baking, the cookbook on Jewish cuisine that I wanted to cook from wasn’t in the marketplace. I wanted something not too out there but something that included updated traditional recipes (classics with a twist), a nod to global flavors and recipes that were taste-forward but also easy. I think I nailed it in this cookbook; I hope I did – because it’s not a cookbook just for me it’s for you and yours. I hope you’ll have a look. I don’t think I’ve missed a recipe that should be there! It includes amazing treats such as Siracha Korean Brisket, Apple Cider Brisket, Sundried Tomato Burrata Kugel, Waffled Latkes, Lemon Garlic Shabbat Chicken, Deli Style Matzoh Brie, Quinoa Sweet and Sour Meatballs (for Passover and vegetarians), and so much more. There's even a bonus Baking Chapter!

Kindle Book Match- Bundle up your Print and E-Book Purchase in One Price!
When you purchase the print cookbook you can also get the Kindle edition for $1.99 extra so you can have a paper cookbook for the kitchen and a handy Kindle e-book to tote around. This is handy when you’re shopping, want to make a recipe and need to cross check which ingredients you might need.

On other notes, happy Purim in advance!  Speaking of Purim, each year I make a new filling to go with my tried and true hamantashen fillings: Poppy, Apricot, Sour Cherry, Meyer Lemon, Cherry Cheesecake, Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Apple Pie and Blueberry Hamantashen. Yes, these recipes are all on the website and/or in my Jewish baking book. Since I’m in a halvah state of mind lately and so Halvah Hamantashen is the 2019 hamantashen filling edition. It’s sweet, exotic and so, so good! If you like halvah, you’ll love this recipe. On other Purim notes, there’s a feature on another Purim recipe of mine showcased here  for Queen Esther Orange Poppy Seed Cake with Brandy Glaze.

I’ve also recently published some features  (about food and about life) on Medium.com. I think you’ll find something of interest to read or bake with. My recent features include:
